I've felt in love with two novels about Ostap Bender (Wikipedia: [link]) by Ilf and Petrov (Wikipedia: [link])! "The Twelve Chairs" (Wikipedia: [link] ) and "The Little Golden Calf" (Wikipedia: [link] ). And, besides, I'm in love with all movies by those novels! (:
Here's comrade Bender and madame Gritsazueva! I love those characters!

I've been meaning to critique this for a while, but I've been stymied because I cannot recall what artist this style reminds me of. It looks a bit like Gulyas Williams, but there is something else there I cannot place. My apologies.
But given that I can't immediately identify this with another's work means you've definitely made it your own and not an imitation. Very good.
I think you capture the personalities of both characters well through body language, facial expression and the interaction between the two. They come across as possibly unsavory but not dangerous and probably amusing to watch. This would be a wonderful poster for a play about _The 12 Chairs_.
So, what problems? (There's no such thing as a perfect work; it's just less imperfect than the last one).
I think her hips and butt are too flat and without proper perspective. Although that technique works with the chair he holds, the figures need to retain the perspective they have elsewhere -- it conveys their importance as the focus of the poster.
His left leg also seems awkward. much too wide and flat and stiff towards the bottom. That could be forgiven if it was a design decision that balanced the layout, but I think having it match the rest of the character and be more anatomically true is necessary.
I also don't personally care for the borders and text in the color they are. They feel too far removed from the piece, whereas the yellowed paper look actually adds to the work. I think a closer match of the borders and text to the lighter areas of his suit would work better. They text color now is too brown and not enough grey.
On the chair and wallpaper patterns: I don't personally care for Photoshop patterns in drawn pieces, but in this case, you chose them well. They look appropriate for the era.
Overall, this poster makes me want to see this play (even if it's not an actual play poster). That means it's very effective.
XD
